Raquel D\u00edaz, CEO of Sodepal and head of Economic Development of the Cabildo de La Palma, presented this morning the development of the Saborea La Palma project, a programme managed by the public company to position the island as a gastronomic tourist destination.<\/p>\n

The launch of the website Saborea La Palma, a space to revalue and position the island's gastronomy in regional, national and international markets; the development of the campaign A qu\u00e9 sabe La Palma?, to rediscover the island's flavours; and a powerful audiovisual work, in which both the raw materials that the island boasts and the preparation of dishes in restaurants on the island are reflected through a perfectly interwoven story, were some of the main actions of this presentation.<\/p>\n

The mayor of Santa Cruz de La Palma, Juanjo Cabrera, the vice-president of the Cabildo and councillor for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Jos\u00e9 Adri\u00e1n Hern\u00e1ndez, and the island's head of Tourism, Ra\u00fal Camacho, as well as professionals from the catering industry and local producers, also took part in the presentation ceremony.<\/p>\n

Raquel D\u00edaz explained that \"we are aware of the serious economic difficulties faced by the catering sector, a reality that obliges us to work even harder to develop actions that allow us to give value to our gastronomy, also as a tourist product of reference\", a task \"in which the Cabildo, through its public company, is fully committed\".<\/p>\n

The councillor pointed out that in the planned actions \"we seek to touch emotions and rediscover flavours and sensations\". To this end, Saborea La Palma encourages the local population \"to define and share their experience and their own definition of what the flavour of the island means to them\".<\/p>\n

Raquel D\u00edaz pointed out that the new website provides a single space with all the gastronomic attractions available on La Palma, and facilitates the search for the best producers, restaurateurs and gourmets on the island, so that those who wish can let themselves be carried away by the flavours of the Isla Bonita and discover the rich gastronomic offerings of La Palma.<\/p>\n

For his part, the island's vice-president and head of the primary sector, Jos\u00e9 Adri\u00e1n Hern\u00e1ndez Montoya, highlighted the excellent quality of the island's products, which come from agriculture, livestock and fishing, and emphasised the importance of publicising these products, which appear on the menus of the island's restaurants and which show the coordinated work carried out by Sodepal, Tourism and Agriculture, Livestock and Fishing to promote the island's gastronomic wealth.<\/p>\n

The head of Tourism, Ra\u00fal Camacho, added his voice to those of Raquel D\u00edaz and Jos\u00e9 Adri\u00e1n Hern\u00e1ndez Montoya and highlighted the island's potential to be a gastronomic destination of reference. \"I believe that the launch of this website, as well as the different actions carried out under the umbrella of the Saborea La Palma brand, are fundamental to make visitors aware of the good gastronomy we have on the island,\" he said.<\/p>\n

For his part, the mayor of the capital, Juan Jos\u00e9 Cabrera, emphasised the importance of having websites like this one, which are visually attractive and which offer all those interested a portal of information about the rich gastronomy of the island and, of course, Santa Cruz de La Palma.<\/p>\n
