No date has yet been set for the event.<\/p><p>The president of the Cabildo de La Palma, Sergio Rodr\u00edguez, stresses that the designation of the island as the venue for the annual meeting of Saborea Espa\u00f1a \"is an unequivocal endorsement\" of the efforts being made by the Cabildo de La Palma, through the public company Sodepal, \"to place La Palma's gastronomy on the national stage\".<\/p><p>Miriam Perestelo, the island councillor for Economic Promotion of the Cabildo de La Palma and CEO of Sodepal, stresses that \"this is a magnificent opportunity to showcase the potential of La Palma's gastronomy, positioning it as a highly valuable tourist resource that we must continue to promote\". The councillor points out that this choice is mainly thanks to \"the work carried out by our producers and chefs at the different fairs in which we have participated over the last few years, professionals from the sector who have played a leading role in these promotional activities\".\u00a0<\/p><p>For his part, the manager of Saborea Espa\u00f1a, Llu\u00eds Pujol, reports that \"after evaluating the different options that have been presented this year, Saborea Espa\u00f1a has decided to go for the island of La Palma\". There were several reasons for this choice. Firstly, Saborea's interest in being able to involve each and every one of the destinations that form part of the NETWORK, not just having a presence in specific or more common areas. We want to be coherent with the great richness and diversity offered by Spanish geography and gastronomy. La Palma is a unique destination, different and to be discovered by many lovers of sustainable and authentic tourism\".<\/p><p>Pujol emphasises that \"the work that has been done in La Palma over the last few years has also been a determining factor in this choice. Identifying and highlighting our own gastronomic resources, supporting the primary sector, improving the management of the gastronomic tourism product and becoming increasingly involved in the promotional activities of Saborea Espa\u00f1a. Work that is already bearing fruit and to which many professionals are sensitive\". And finally, \"the high level of involvement that the Cabildo of La Palma has shown in the organisation of the event. Involvement that has been translated into making the necessary resources available to the organisation. This involvement is necessary for an event of these characteristics to be a success\".<\/p><p>This is the first opportunity for La Palma to host a meeting of the country's main actors linked to the gastronomy sector with the support of the Secretary of State for Tourism, with the chance to showcase and defend the Island's produce and cuisine, as well as to participate in initiatives in the field of Spanish gastronomy, with a special focus on the food and wine projects developed with the support of the Next Generation funds.<\/p><p>With the participation of around one hundred representatives from Saborea Espa\u00f1a, business associations, European culinary organisations and regional tourism authorities, among other groups, this meeting will analyse the improvement of the gastronomic tourism product in different areas, with special attention to the link with the primary sector, the recovery of the gastronomic heritage, image and positioning and the adaptation of the different markets.<\/p><p>The conference will include technical presentations on food and wine destinations, practical business workshops and round tables. Participants will also learn about the gastronomy of La Palma, both the quality and history of the products, with visits to livestock farms, and the traditional and fusion cuisine that is intermingled on the island, with tastings.<\/p><p>The Secretary of State for Tourism considers this conference to be a preparatory event, in the field of gastronomic tourism, for the Tourism Congress to be held at the end of the year.<\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Miriam Perestelo highlights the importance of this event to position the island in the gastronomic sector at a national level.
