Alberto Paz highlights the high level of Palmeros products in this type of competition.

The Cabildo de La Palma congratulates the bodega Castro y Magán, better known under the name Vinos Tendal, for their first place in the Official Agrocanarian Cider Competition 2024.

The representatives from La Palma obtained the distinction of 'Gran Medalla de Oro', for their new brand 'La Mirla Sidrería'. In addition, the leaders of the Castro y Magán bodega expressed that they are very proud of the award, and affirm that "the time has come to wake up and continue to demonstrate the quality of the apples grown on La Palma".

The Minister of Agriculture, Alberto Paz, stresses the importance that La Palma products usually have in this type of competition. "The case of the 'Mirla Sidrera' is one more example of the quality of our products, which makes it possible for La Palma to be a reference in this type of competition at both regional and national level," he said.

The Official Agrocanarias 2024 Cider Competition, organised by the Canary Islands Agri-Food Quality Institute (ICCA), a body under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty of the Government of the Canary Islands, aims to distinguish the products produced, bottled and packaged in the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands and aims to raise public awareness of the typical characteristics of the ciders of the archipelago, their organoleptic properties and contribute to their promotion.

The Consistory will continue to support local companies that represent the island in style at this type of event, as well as working on improvements for the benefit of the primary sector.
