01 Sep Sodepal and Fred. Olsen Express will collaborate in the events of La Palma with the greatest international projection.

The agreement signed between both parties guarantees the sponsorship of the shipping company in the next editions of Transvulcania, Isla Bonita Love Festival and Saborea La Palma.

The Sociedad de Promoción y Desarrollo Económico (Sodepal), a public company dependent on the Cabildo de La Palma, and the shipping company Fred. Olsen Express have signed a collaboration agreement whereby the shipping company will sponsor the celebration of the most internationally renowned events on La Palma. Specifically, the agreement guarantees the participation of the shipping company in the next editions of Transvulcania, Transvulcania Bike, Isla Bonita Love Festival, Saborea La Palma and La Palma Fashion Week.

Raquel Díaz, CEO of Sodepal and head of Economic Promotion on the island, highlights "the advantages of public-private cooperation, which allows us to combine resources and efforts and take new steps in the promotion and development of events such as those included in the agreement, which are an important tourist attraction and a key driver for the island's economy".

Díaz has defended the fact that the development of La Palma is linked to that of the business community established on the island, and he stresses the importance of the support of the different entities to make the events that position the island at a regional, national and international level grow through the initiatives promoted by Sodepal throughout the year in its different areas of activity.

From Fred. Olsen Express, Juan Ignacio Liaño, fleet director, has highlighted the company's commitment to the Isla Bonita, with which it operates four direct routes a day between the ports of Los Cristianos and Santa Cruz de La Palma. "Our commitment to La Palma goes beyond guaranteeing connectivity between the two islands, supporting local initiatives that favour its economic growth, such as these sporting and cultural events, which have an internationally recognised reputation".

Among the sponsorship actions included in the agreement, special promotions and discounts will be offered for participants travelling from other islands to the sporting events, as well as for the purchase of tickets to one of the events, such as the Isla Bonita Love Festival.

The direct route of Fred. Olsen's direct route, without a stopover in La Gomera, which is planned indefinitely, has departures from Santa Cruz de La Palma at 6:30 and 17:00 from Monday to Saturday, and on Sundays at 10:00 and 17:00. In the opposite direction, the trips from Tenerife to La Palma are at 8:30 and 19:00 from Monday to Saturday, and on Sundays at 13:00 and 20:30.
