26 Sep La Palma promotes its gastronomy at San Sebastian Gastronomika 2024
Chefs Mariana Hernández and Pedro Castillo will represent the flavours of the island at one of the most important culinary fairs in the country.
La Palma continues to promote its gastronomy at various important national events, such as San Sebastián Gastronomika 2024, which will take place from the 7th to the 9th of October at the Kursaal Palace. The chefs Mariana Hernández and Pedro Castillo will take part in this outstanding event through Saborea La Palma, a programme attached to the Tourism Department of the Cabildo de La Palma, to showcase their talent and the quality of the island's products.
The Councillor for Economic Promotion and CEO of Sodepal, Miriam Perestelo, highlights the importance of this participation, underlining that "San Sebastián Gastronomika is a first class platform to continue positioning the products of La Palma on the national and international gastronomic map".
The island's councillor for Tourism, Raquel Rebollo, highlights the importance of this important meeting within the gastronomic sector to showcase the gastronomy and talent of La Palma and to continue positioning the island as a gastronomic destination. "Gastronomy is an experience that travellers and tourists are increasingly looking for, and it is a rising value, just like nature, astronomy, heritage or culture", explains the councillor.
The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, Animal Welfare and Food Sovereignty, Alberto Paz, points out that the presence of La Palma at this fair "reinforces the commitment to the agri-food sector and to the island's chefs, who are ambassadors of the quality and uniqueness of our land".
The Palmeros chefs Mariana Hernández (from the restaurant El Baifo) and Pedro Castillo (from the restaurant El Duende del Fuego) will be in charge of representing the rich and varied gastronomy of the island with live demonstrations and tastings of dishes made with local products.
During the event, those attending will be able to discover first-hand the flavours of La Palma, from its traditional mojos to its confectionery and country produce, all under the seal of quality that characterises the island's products.
