23 May The Cabildo promotes the wine sector at the Salón Profesional Vinos La Palma (La Palma Wine Show)
The Casa Salazar and the Espacio Cultural Cajacanarias will be the venues for this event, which has the collaboration of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the ICCA, and which will be held on 4 and 5 November.
The Cabildo de La Palma presents the Salón Profesional Vinos La Palma, a meeting organised in collaboration with the Instituto Canario de Calidad Agroalimentaria (ICCA) that will take place at the Casa Salazar and the Espacio Cultural Cajacanarias in Santa Cruz de La Palma on the 4th and 5th of November, with the participation of different professionals and entities from the wine sector. In addition, the Regulatory Council for the Protected Designation of Origin of Vinos de La Palma will also be present.
The presentation ceremony was attended by the president of the Cabildo of La Palma, Sergio Rodríguez; the councillor for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, Food Sovereignty and Animal Welfare, Alberto Paz; the General of the Instituto Canario de Calidad Agroalimentaria, Luis Arráez, and the president of the Consejo Regulador de la Denominación de Origen Vinos La Palma, Raúl Melián.
The island's president, Sergio Rodríguez, stresses that this project "arises from the very lifeblood of our land, at the proposal of the island's wine sector, through the Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin Vinos La Palma, and from the interest shown directly by the wineries that have signed up to this brand. This shows that when the sector unites, and when the institutions listen and support, great projects become reality".
The Regional Minister for Agriculture, Alberto Paz, points out that this action "aims to provide the vision of experts who will explain precise aspects of knowledge of one of the most important products of our gastronomy".
"The Wine Fair is also an opportunity for the wineries to showcase their products, whether wines or wine tourism, in direct contact with professionals from the sector," added the councillor.
For his part, the director of the ICCA, Luis Arráez Guadalupe, pointed out that this collaboration is part of the promotional and marketing support actions for the archipelago's differentiated quality products that the Canary Islands government carries out throughout the year, and stressed the importance of this type of professional forum "to continue promoting the archipelago's wine sector, particularly that of La Palma, and the activities linked to it, such as wine tourism, a segment in which the island has great potential".
During the two days of the event, there will be informative talks at the Espacio Cultural CajaCanarias, between 17:00 and 20:00, where attendees can learn more about the wine sector, such as the study of vine varieties, wine marketing, brand positioning or the associative movement of the designations of origin.
On the 4th of November, the Wine Fair will take place at the Casa Salazar, an exclusive event for professionals in the sector, where they will be able to discover the wines of La Palma in depth, establish contacts and synergies between producers, distributors, restaurateurs and other agents in the oenological field.
