Sodepal reinvents Fotonature to train photographers in film, gastronomy, astronomy and fashion by 2020

The public company Sodepal keeps the registrations for the project Fotonature La Palma 2020 openThis year's edition has had to adapt to the new normality to offer both an on-site and a virtual version between 20 and 22 November.

The company of the Cabildo de La Palma has opted for the transversality between its different projects to make the masterclasses on offer more attractive, which are aimed at both professionals and people with less knowledge in the world of photography, and which will take place in the Benahoarita Archaeological Museum (MAB) in Los Llanos de Aridane.

The CEO of Sodepal and head of Economic Development on the island, Raquel DiazHe stressed that "we offer a different format of Fotonature, complying with all the health measures against Covid 19 and committed to training photographers in very specific sectors, in which it is not easy to find on our island qualified professionals to develop photo shoots at the level that is demanded".

Raquel Díaz highlighted "the joint work between Sodepal projects that throughout the year have very specific photography needs in their fields of action". For this reason, "each masterclass will be given by recognised specialists, always seeking the best training for the participants".

The programme kicks off on 20 November at 17.30 with a Gastronomic Photography masterclass given by Edu López, an expert in creating food images for restaurants, chefs, franchises and even supermarkets. He collaborates with leading brands in the sector such as Profoto, Fujifilm, Wiral and Moza, among others. The action is linked to Saborea La Palma, a Sodepal project.

A day later, from 9.30 am, Fotonature joins Film Commission in the masterclass of Film and Fiction Photography by Curro Ferreira, director of photography with extensive and recognized experience. He has directed the photography of series such as 'El Ministerio del Tiempo', 'Malaka', 'Vis a Vis', 'Vivir sin permiso'... He has worked on film projects by Bigas Luna, Almodóvar and Borja Cobeaga.

On the same Saturday at 12.30 p.m., Fotonature Kids is scheduled, under the supervision of Afoto La Palma, an association that brings together photographers from the island with great knowledge in the field, who will teach children the basic principles of the magical world that is experienced through a camera. In the afternoon, from 4 pm onwards, a masterclass on Star Photography (Astronomical Dissemination) is scheduled to be given by Juan Carlos Casado, president of the Albanya Astronomical Observatory (Gerona) and coordinator of the Starryearth astronomical images website. He will be supported by Astro Tour and Afoto La Palma. A star photography workshop will be held after dark.

Fotonature closes on Sunday, 22 November, with a masterclass in Fashion Photography, a sector in which Sodepal is firmly committed to with the Isla Bonita Moda project. It will be given by Lea Farrem, an expert with publications in Telva, Hola and Mujer Hoy. The designer Paloma Suárez will collaborate.

Within the framework of Fotonature 2020, the Isla Bonita Photography Centre is bringing the world of studio portraiture closer with a free practical set open to all participants at the MAB itself. The usual images with the most modern techniques, with new trends, to get the most out of photographic equipment.

Due to the new normality, and making use of new technologies, Fotonature will also offer the masterclasses via streaming through a pay per view system.
